The evaluation of the thesis is conducted by the Tripartite Examination Committee. It is imperative that the subject of the thesis is research-based, both innovative and aligned with the comprehensive nature of the MSc courses. It should be noted that all theses must accept the principles of Academic Ethics and Research Ethics of the University of the Aegean. This responsibility is shared by the supervisor and the postgraduate student.
In the decision of the 1st (extraordinary)/12.12.2023 meeting of the Steering Committee of the MSc ME.D.M.O.D.E., the Thesis Regulations were approved.
The topic selected should align with the core themes of the postgraduate programme, that is to say the Master of Science. The thesis is concerned with a research topic and may be either at a purely theoretical level or in the production of a corresponding methodology. In any case, the choice of topic and methodology should ensure the relevance of the thesis, i.e. its research contribution to the theoretical iterature and/or to the resolution of methodological issues and/or to the level of practical applications. During the second semester, each student is expected to orient themselves on the subject of the thesis they wish to address. The thesis is then subjected to evaluation by the Tripartite Examination Committee. The subject of the thesis must be of a research nature, original and related to the broader subject of the MSc courses. It is imperative that all theses adhere to the principles of Academic Ethics and Research Ethics as stipulated by the University of the Aegean, under the oversight of the supervisor and the postgraduate student.
In the third semester of the programme, students begin to formulate their postgraduate thesis.
Following selection, the postgraduate student is required to submit an application to the MSc Secretariat, which is then to be forwarded to the Board of Directors. Along with the title of the thesis, this document must include the title of the research topic and the supervisor.
In the third semester for the full-time programme and in the fifth semester for the part-time programme, the presentation of the postgraduate thesis is foreseen, provided that the student has successfully passed all courses and has successfully completed the submission of two original scientific articles.
Prior to the presentation, postgraduate students are required to submit an application to the MSc Secretariat, including the specific title of the thesis and an abstract of the thesis, in accordance with the template that can be found on the MSc website. The MSc Secretariat is responsible for forwarding applications to the Steering Committee.
The structure of the MME should be in accordance with the template, which contains specific specifications and which is posted on the website of the MSc (see attached).
The manner in which the MCE is to be written is subject to specific stipulations, as outlined in a decision made by the Departmental Assembly. These stipulations can be found on the MSc website.
The design of the Master's Thesis of each student is the responsibility of the Supervisor. It is also noted that the Supervisor and the postgraduate student are responsible for ensuring that all postgraduate theses adhere to the principles of academic ethics and research ethics of the Institution.
