The Policy for Support and Development of Associate Staff in the MSc ME.D.M.O.D.E. is based on the following principles:

Here is the scientific/academic translation of the text:

  • Continuous Training and Development: We provide opportunities for continuous training, education, and professional skills development.
  • Research Activity Support: We encourage participation in research projects and provide support for developing research initiatives and capabilities.
  • Recognition and Reward: We recognize and reward staff achievements and dedication.

Specifically, the measures taken and activities carried out to support and develop the human resources of the Postgraduate Program (MSc) in Management and Organization of Defense and Security Organizations include the following:

  • Continuous Training and Development of Human Resources is carried out with the support of the Teaching and Learning Support Center and the voluntary participation of teaching staff in trainer education activities. The University of the Aegean established the Teaching and Learning Support Center (KEDIMA) to ensure continuous support, empowerment, and improvement of the teaching and learning process. The objectives of KEDIMA include: additional updating of instructors regarding developments in University Pedagogy, creating, exchanging, and systematizing good practices and tools for effective design, teaching, and assessment of the learning process, recording and processing teaching needs and questions related to the teaching-learning process, developing effective learning techniques and methods to improve learning outcomes, developing modern and multifaceted learning environments that utilize contemporary techniques and methods with respect to learners' unique characteristics and the principles of differentiated teaching based on students' special educational needs, raising awareness about the need for differentiated teaching, proposing and introducing innovations and alternative teaching forms by leveraging Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in teaching. The organization of actions in collaboration with scientific, professional, research, or educational bodies, as well as synergy with Laboratories, Centers, Offices, organizations, institutes, and institutions operating in Greece and abroad that focus on teaching and learning, is considered crucial for KEDIMA's development, with the aim of exchanging expertise regarding contemporary educational approaches.
  • Support for the research activity of academic staff employed in the Postgraduate Program in Management and Organization of Defense and Security Organizations is implemented through supporting staff mobility, departmental research infrastructures, procurement of modern equipment, and encouraging members to seek and participate in international and Greek research projects. Simultaneously, collaboration with international professors is promoted, both at educational and research levels. In this context, provisions have been made to include conference and event participation expenses for members in Greece and abroad, as well as mobility program costs, within the Program's Administrative Support Budget. Strengthening laboratory infrastructures through the acquisition of modern technological equipment contributes to developing and applying new methods to support research work and increases opportunities for participation in Greek and international research projects. These actions not only enhance the connection between teaching and research but also promote the scientific and professional development of teaching staff. Additionally, the Special Research Funds Account of the University of the Aegean has set specific strategic actions to support the research activity of academic personnel, such as:
    • Enhancement of existing and development of new digital, entrepreneurial, and communication skills in human research personnel
    • Attracting new researchers from Greek and international research communities
    • Systematic utilization of national and international programs to strengthen and support the institution's research infrastructures
    • Supporting researchers in searching for and submitting proposals to competitive Greek and international research programs
    • Participation in the Euraxess Network supporting researcher mobility
    • Organizing events to publicize and showcase distinctive research achievements
    • Providing support services and protection of researchers' intellectual and industrial property through the Legal Support and Technology Transfer Offices of the Research Committee
    • Providing support services for creating technology-based enterprises through the Technology Transfer Office of the Research Committee.
  • Recognition and reward of the Postgraduate Program's personnel is carried out through encouraging the professional and scientific development of administrative and teaching staff, which may involve one or more of the following:
    • Approval of various types of educational/scientific leaves in accordance with current legislation,
    • Public recognition of teaching staff achievements through relevant posts on the Postgraduate Program's and University websites and social media channels,
    • Facilitating administrative and teaching staff in continuing their studies at the Postgraduate level and/or participating in skill development programs by attending seminars at the Educational Center for Public Administration and Local Government or Lifelong Learning Centers (KeDiViM) of the University of the Aegean and other Universities.

This policy represents a commitment of the Postgraduate Program in Management and Organization of Defense and Security Organizations to support and strengthen its human resources in order to achieve high levels of academic and research excellence.
